For pension funds and foundations

The report a foundation board understands.

A pension fund invests through several asset managers and has to turn that into one report: one portfolio, the investment guidelines kept, the sustainability to the ASIP standard. And all of it for a board that does not deal with investments every day.

What decides it

Four things the report has to do

  1. Across every manager

Every manager delivers differently. It is consolidated nonetheless into one view, in one currency, with one return — and beside it the contribution of each mandate.

    Consolidation →
  2. Sustainability to the standard you have to meet

ESG risk against the benchmark, ratings, exclusions, controversies; CO₂ over time and by sector, the five largest emitters, the implied temperature rise; SDG alignment and fund look-through. To the ASIP standard and the Swiss Climate Scores, with data from MSCI and ISS ESG. For regulatory certainty we work with PwC.

    ESG →
  3. Readable for a board

The same figures, at the depth the reader needs: the investment committee gets the metrics, the board gets the statement. Both reports come out of the same report tree — as a PDF for the meeting folder, on the web for the question in between, as Excel for whatever follows.

  4. Asking the report

A foundation board is made of people who do not deal with investments every day. In preview they ask the report directly: why the return sits behind the benchmark, what a position has cost. The answer comes out of the report’s own figures with its evidence, and the calculating happens in Core.
